Key Laboratory of Hunan Province—“Energy Saving Control and Safety Monitoring of Rail Transportation“
relies on the joint construction of Central South University (shorted as CSU) and CRRC ZHUZHOU INSTITUTE Co. Ltd (shorted as CRRC ZHUZHOU INSTITUTE).
To improve the basic theory and key technology in the field of energy saving control and safety monitoring for rail transportation, the
research directions in the laboratory mainly include: (1) energy saving control for rail transportation; (2) rail safety monitoring; (3) safety monitoring
for train in operation; (4) verification techniques for safety monitoring method. Furthermore, seven laboratories have been established and located in CSU and
CRRC ZHUZHOU INSTITUTE. Significant breakthroughs are expected in the basic theory and application research of energy saving optimization for permanent magnet
synchronous traction system, optimal operation control for train, rapidly and accurately measure and debug of geometry of high-speed railway track, data analysis
of safety detection for track, real-time fault diagnosis, system health management, fault injection and real-time simulation. It is expected that some results will
be transformed and applied in the permanent magnet synchronous traction system energy saving new products, system integration of optimal operation for train, railway
track detector, data analysis software of high-speed rail safety detection, validation platform of running safety monitoring, in order to promote the research on energy
saving and safety monitoring for rail transit in Hunan province and reach the leading level of China.
There are 45 regular researchers and 2 managers in the laboratory. The laboratory includes 11 professors, 10 associate professors, 3 professor-level senior
engineers and 13 senior engineers; 34 have Ph.D., 2 national outstanding youth fund winners, 1 national excellent science and technology workers, 2 outstanding youth fund
winners of Hunan Province, one was selected into Hundred Talents Program of Hunan Province, 4 Education Ministry's New Century Excellent Talents, 2 distinguished professor and associate professor of CSU.
The laboratory actively explores scientific research organization forms and opening management mechanism to become a training base of high-quality, high-level
science and technology innovative talents as well an output base of original innovative achievements. We also strive to build the laboratory to play an important role in the field of rail transportation
at home and abroad with distinctive characteristics.
